Evaluation Question 1

Brief

The brief I was working to was making a title sequence for a feature film. The title of the opening title sequence is Love on the Line which is a romantic comedy. The opening sequence starts with the main character with Eddie Lee who is in love with his colleague Jessica Long however she is completely oblivious to his feelings for her because she has a boyfriend, the current office 'stud' Trevor Watson. The opening sequence starts with the two main characters (Eddie Lee, Jessica Long) morning routines. There is a shot of the female character getting ready, organized and getting the train on time and, there is a shot of the male character waking up late in is living room and trying to get to work as fast as he can because of his un-organization. Then there is an establishing shot of the setting of the office they work in. Then there is a shot where the female character (Jessica Long) walking into the office and sees her boyfriend (Trevor Watson) and they embrace, whilst this is happening Eddie Lee comes in and sees them which is disheartening for him and it ends there. The sub-genre of our opening title sequence would be comedy films and romance films.

Feedback from opening title sequence.

When we showed our title sequence to our Media Studies teacher we got some feedback from her on what she thought worked and what didn't and what we could change.
She thought the home scene with Jessica Long needs a re-shoot because we didn't use a tripod so we would have to do that again.
Also, because of the performance of the actor playing Eddie Lee we would also have to re-shoot that scene and she said we could try doing that scene a couple of times from different angles so we have a variety of shots to choose from.
The train station scene also needs to be cut shorter because it doesn't add any meaning to our title sequence.
Also, she said the titles could come up at every angle of the screen because it looks a bit boring in just one place and the name of the film needs to come up at the beginning of the opening title sequence not at the end.

This is what a poster of our opening title sequence would be like if we were to make in into a film.

Final Edit: Love on the Line

This is a final edit of our opening title sequence Love on the Line.
We didn't really make a lot of changes from the last test edit we did but the only changes we made were scrapping the Eddie Lee train station scene because we didn't have time to film that scene at the train station and we thought if we took it away it wouldn't change the plot of the opening title sequence a lot.
Also, we changed the music because the last one was too dominating it dominated most of the speech and was too powerful for our title sequence so we found one that was suitable for our title sequence and wouldn't dominate the speech in our title sequence.
Apart from that I think it looks great and we definitely achieved the genre we were going for.

This is a production schedule of the times we will be going out to film, where we will film and who will be present. It also helps our group members and actors stay in check where they need to be.

Production Journal 5

On tuesday 1st February we filmed the Eddie Lee wake up scene. It went well but we had problems with props for example a blanket for the sofa but we went to borrow one. Also, when we was filming the actor wasn't exactly sure what he had to do so we had to go through it with him step by step.
Also we had problems with camera angles and getting the actor and props into the camera was a difficulty so that made us film that scene several times.
Also because we couldn't get to the actors house we had to use the school common room as an alternative. So we can justify it as being his loving room which goes with his character of being rough, late and unorganised.

We decide to do another production logo for our title sequence and this one looks the best out of the three of them.

Test Edit 2

This is a second test edit of the filming we have done so far. So far we have managed to film most of the scenes, but because we had to change the actor for Eddie Lee we had to film that scene again. Also, other things we didn't like is the music as it is a little fast for the action going on in the sequence. Also the timing is a little long so we will have to edit it so it's a bit shorter.
